Weaving to Form with Jessi Highet

  • Southern California Fibershed Los Angeles, CA (map)

In this two part workshop, you'll learn how to “weave a garment to form” on a homemade full selvedge tapestry loom. Before the workshop, you will receive instruction on gathering materials and making your loom. In the first class, we'll warp the loom together and learn the classic basic weave structure. You'll also learn how to control your tension and add in additional colors/ shapes. Tapestry weaving is a slow process so you'll have a week in between sessions to practice and build up your weaving. In the second session, you will learn how to finish your weaving to make your garment, secure any loose ends, and have time to ask any questions that came up during your week of solo practice.
