CA Healthy Soils Program Grants


California's Healthy Soils Program has opened their 2020 application window for grants to support carbon farming practices. Funding has been increased to $25 Million this year and registration ends June 26, 2020 or when funding runs out so apply early! The aim of the program is to fund implementation of farm practices that improve soil health and carbon sequestration on farmlands and ranchlands in California. Benefits of these programs offer many benefits, including agricultural sustainability, climate change adaption, emissions reductions and increased yields and farm income. Eligible practices include: cover cropping, alley cropping prescribed grazing, compost application to grazed grasslands, compost application to cropland, hedgerows, riparian planting, mulching, reduced tillage or no-till, and others.
