BLACKBERRY CREEK FARMS

Blackberry Creek is a small family farm. We have two Pygora goats and two Baby Doll Southdown sheep. Once our animals have been sheared and their fleece skirted we might process ourselves or we may send out to process at a fiber mill.  The processing on site is for personal use only, and the sellable product is sent to three different mills, two in California and one in Arizona.  We are completely owner managed and our animals are our pets.

Our sheep have extremely elastic springy (dense and curly!) wool and the staple length is very dense about 4 inches. One is cream color and the other is dense brown. The staple length on the Pygoras is graded type B, one is more type B which is characteristic of mohair and the other one is more type C which is more like cashmere. The goat fiber is fine and long, and tends to tangle.
